River location: Between Wroxham and Ant Mouth on the River Bure
Facilities: Visitor moorings (24hr Free) next to the Swan Inn on the east bank after a sharp bend. More moorings available at the New Inn and also customer moorings at The Ferry Inn (chargeable). All these pubs have riverside tables and serve food. There are tearooms and small shops close to the moorings near the Swan Inn. Facilities in various boatyards. Fresh water. Electric points on the moorings.
Horning flanks the banks of the River Bure and the moorings at the three riverside pubs are popular at busy times. The moorings at the Swan Inn are free 24hrs. The passenger steamer sails from here to Wroxham and there are shops and restaurants in the village. Opposite the public moorings at the Swan Inn is a small marina with private moorings. Further downstream on the east bank there are many holiday riverside bungalows popular with fishermen. Several dykes, mostly private, some the homes of hire boat companies, lead off the east side of the river and this is one of the most popular centres on the Broads. A sailing centre sits at the mouth of a private dyke on the north bank at the sharp bend in the river and care should be taken at weekends when the small sailing craft populate the river. Further down river towards the Ferry Inn there is a foot ferry that runs at popular times close to the pub (serving the free 24hr moorings opposite the pub) and you can call a ferry on demand from the Freedom boatyard www.freedomboatingholidays.co.uk
