River location: Martham village is 1 mile from the end of a dyke off the River Thurne. West Somerton is close to the limit of navigation on the River Thurne after passing through Martham Broad.
Facilities: There are no public moorings at Matham. There are moorings at West Somerton through Martham Broad.
Martham is a busy village with shops, pubs, takeaways some 2 miles south of the main river. The dyke from the main river is private and has a lot of small boats moored here. Alongside the dyke is a pleasant walk and from here the road passes the church leading into the village. There is a small swing bridge known as Martham Ferry across the main river at the end of the dyke. This can be moved by hand. Further up the river towards Martham Broad the area is teaming with wildlife and is a favourite haunt for fishermen.
At the end of the dyke (not suitable for hire boats) leading out of Martham Broad there is a small green with seating. The village is a short walk south from here and has a pub.
