The Norfolk & Suffolk Broads B E C C L E S
River location: On the River Waveney, between Oulton Broad and Geldeston Lock (the head of navigation)
Facilities: Public moorings (pay) are in the marina, past the moorings after the road bridge on the north bank. Fresh water, diesel and pump out available.
The Beccles Old Bridge (the iron one) is low (6ft 6ins) and as the river is tidal care should be taken. There are boats for hire from boatyards on both sides of the river and private moorings in a dyke opposite the marina. There are food shops close to the marina but Beccles village is a half mile walk from the marina to the south. The river runs parallel to the town as it winds its way towards Geldeston Lock. Private moorings and riverside property line the banks. The impressive bell tower of St Michaels church can be seen from the river.
