The Norfolk & Suffolk Broads N O R W I C H
River location: The most westerly point on the Broads, on the River Wensum. Bishops Bridge is the head of navigation for hire craft.
Facilities: Visitor moorings (Pay at Yacht Station) on the east bank, downstream of Bishops Bridge. Fresh water. Pub and shops nearby.
Norwich is the county town of Norfolk. Near the moorings there are magnificent views of the Cathedral seen through the trees that line the west bank. A short walk takes you into the city with many pubs and eating places. As the river leaves the city centre many new developments, flats and walkways, have grown up on the banks and the river is quite claustrophobic until you reach the Norwich City Football Ground at Carrow Road. From here the river flows through derelict areas and moorings and via the main branch reaches the junction with the River Yare at Thorpe Green where there are visitor moorings (24hr Free) on the south bank after the junction at Willingham Country Park. Norwich is home to the Coleman's Mustard factory.
